Maxis has announced that users who purchase a digital copy of SimCity through Origin will be able to play the game on Mac and Windows without needing to purchase a second copy. While this won’t affect the vast majority of users, for those who regularly use Mac and Windows (myself included) this decision is highly appreciated.
Mac users will still need to wait until SimCity for Mac is officially released, which should coincide with the release of Origin for Mac.
SimCity for Mac is expected to be released worldwide this Spring. (“Spring” refers to Spring in America, since EA fail to realize that the season occurs at different times of the year in different countries.)

I bought in a retail store, but i had to put the serial number into origin and now i got the game inside origin. the same works for the sims games. I installed it on my pc got it working with origin and i could download it on origin on my mac without using the disc. Hope it will work the same way for simcity!
